Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are all set to get married on May 19th, 2018 and the excitement around the world for this royal wedding is palpable. The couple announced their engagement last year hearts broke all over as people realized Prince Harry and Rachel from Suits have found each other and lesser mortals like us have no chance. Anyway, coming back to the point, everyone knows that Meghan and the real queen of this world – Priyanka Chopra (sorry Elizabeth) are very good friends.
The ladies met in Canada where Rachel was shooting for Suits and PC was filming Quantico. Their similar struggles of being one of the few non-white actresses headlining a TV show and fierce advocacy of feminism has been the core foundation of their friendship. The moment Meghan’s wedding was announced, reports started pouring in about Priyanka being a bridesmaid.
In an interview to Harper’s Bazaar, PC addressed this pressing concern –

She also elaborated on how this marriage is such a good step for women all over the world –
I don’t think anybody else would be able to do it the way she will. She’s just right for it. She’s an icon, truly, that girls can look up to, that women can look up to. She’s normal, she’s sweet, she’s nice, she thinks about the world, wants to change it and this was even before any of this happened. So I do think Meghan being a part of the royal family is a big step in the direction of so many things; of women, of feminism, of diversity, of race, of the monarchy versus everyone else. It’s a beautiful step in the right direction.
