In the past few years, eye brows have quickly risen to being the most important feature on your face. However, all of us aren’t naturally blessed with great ones – which is why we turn to brow products. Here are 5 mistakes you should be careful to avoid when filling in your brows.

Mistake #1: Skipping The Grooming Step

Although the days of over-plucked brows are long gone, you still need to keep your brows groomed. Pluck any stray hairs with a tweezer. If you can’t see the arch correctly or aren’t happy with the shape of your brows, visit a salon to get threaded or waxed.

Mistake #2: Using Only One Formula

Why stick to a single product when you have so many options? Powder formulas are great for beginners or those who want a soft, natural look. Pencils work well to fill in sparse areas, whilst pomades add more pigmentation. Brow gels (whether tinted or clear) are amazing at setting the hairs in place. Mix and match your formulas to get the look you want.

Mistake #3: Not Picking The Right  Shade

This is a mistake that most of us are guilty of! If you can’t find a colour that matches your brows perfectly, use a shade lighter than the hair on your head. You can even use a combination of two shades to get a natural look.

Mistake #4: Following The Wrong Technique

Whether it’s a powder, gel or pencil, don’t be heavy-handed in your application. Instead, focus the product on to the sparse areas to give them a fuller and more defined look. Apply in quick, short strokes and remember to use a spoolie or brow brush to blend the colour in.

Mistake #5: Changing Up The Shape

Rather than creating a whole new shape, it’s best to follow the original shape of your brows. You can even emphasise the shape better by dotting on a tiny amount of highlighter above and beneath the arch.
