It has been almost a week since the news of Sridevi‘s untimely demise broke and we’re still reeling from the shock. The late superstar was in Dubai when she passed away due to accidental drowning and we can’t begin to imagine what her family must be going through. Friends and family flocked Anil Kapoor‘s home to offer their condolences and support to her two daughters – Janhvi and Khushi.

This naturally is a huge loss to the Indian film industry and actors like Shah Rukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan took to social media to express their shock. Priyanka Chopra too, who has been an ardent Sri fan was heartbroken with the news.

She penned down an emotional tribute to her for Time Magazine.

She could be childlike, grown up, funny, serious, beguiling, sexy—she was the ultimate actor. She was my childhood, and one of the big reasons I became an actor. To refer to all of us as mere fans would be a disservice to her. When the news first broke of her passing, I was immobilised. All I could do then was listen to songs from her films, revisit her interviews and watch her iconic scenes over and over again. I knew I was not alone; millions were feeling that exact emotion of shock and loss. Her connection with the audience was so strong that that each one of us has special memories linked to her.

She also mentioned that her last meeting with her was at the red carpet of an event, where she spoke fondly of her two daughters.

I don’t think we can get over this loss any time soon, but here’s our tribute to her.
