Deepika Padukone, Virat Kohli and Ishaan Khattar won top honours at the first edition of Instagram Awards in India. Deepika won the ‘Most Followed Account’, beating Priyanka Chopra and Alia Bhatt to win the top honour. Deepika currently has 22.4 million followers on Instagram.

Virat won an award for ‘Most Engaging Instagram Account’ because of his wedding photo with Anushka Sharma which gathered around 45 lakh likes. The reason to give this award to the captain of the Indian cricket team was that he received the highest number of engagements – likes and comments – through the content he shared in 2017.

The awards didn’t take into consideration views, likes or comments posted on Insta stories or video posts.

Shahid Kapoor‘s younger brother Ishaan Khatter also beat celebrities to be named as the winner for India’s ‘Emerging Account’. His Instagram account has shown a significant growth in terms of followers and engagement throughout the last year.

Alia and Shraddha Kapoor were recognized for having 20 million followers as well.
