I Spent A Day In Dubai & Experienced True Luxury

Few travel destinations will leave you feeling mesmerised. And that’s exactly what I feel every time I visit the bejewelled Emirate of Dubai! The city that boasts of man-made islands, an indoor ski resort and the world’s tallest building defines the saying, go big or go home. For this trip, I did just that!

Where I Stayed

This particular trip was extra special. I decided to envelop the travel bug in me, in a little bit of luxury. And nothing says decadent, velvety luxury, like the Bulgari Resort.

Nestled lavishly in the lap of a man-made island in Jumeirah Bay, the Bulgari resort combines the comfort of a residential suite with both the solitude of a holiday escape and proximity to the bustling Dubai city.

Much like its coveted jewels, guests are cocooned in a curated ensemble of fine-crafted interiors and exteriors to offer an experience that defines the Bulgari brand—elegant Italian style by the inimitable Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel.

Service was impeccable, with staff that was courteous, friendly and warm and happy to help guests who needed help with the rest of their Dubai travel as well.

What I Did

Dubai Frame

If you ever make your way to this is lively Emirate, the Dubai Frame is a stop you have to make. An architectural landmark, it has been named the world’s biggest frame. From this magnificent frame, you can feast your eyes on the entire city of Dubai and it was in this tectonic delight, I was treated to an ambient and immersive experience of the history and significant achievements of this incredible Emirate city. The Dubai Frame is almost surreal in its silhouette on the city’s skyline, and a glimpse into the emirate’s glittering future is what you are offered in the augmented reality display of the tour.

Ziplining in Ras Al Khaimah

One of the reasons I travel is often on account of an insatiable thirst for adventure. If you are looking for that adrenalin rush, head straight to UAE’s Ras Al Khaimah that hosts the world’s longest zip line! And what a rush it is. You fly face down, channelling a superhero as you make your way above a majestic mountain terrain. After you’re done one thing remains, that this experience gets etched in your memory forever.

Maserati GranTurismo

Feeling like I stepped off a cloud and made my way across the city in an exhilarating Maserati GranTurismo feeling ever thankful for having had the experience of engaging with one of the world’s greatest brands. I glided my way to Abu Dhabi driving the magnificent Maserati GranTurismo. One thing that struck me while I made my way there, was that with everything I had experienced during this trip driving this mesmeric machine was an experience in itself.

Louvre

When you enter the Louvre you realise it’s going to be an experience like no other. The international museum houses cultures and civilisations, but uniquely displays artefacts with relation to theme rather than just chronologically or according to a culture silo. While most museums the world over offer insight into chronologically-based art and or an in-depth view on western imperialism, the Louvre, Abu Dhabi seeks to establish and make its visitors explore the connection between many intriguing cultures. It felt pretty much like walking through a book of very real and equally enchanting tales. Leaving the Louvre with my eyes fixed on what the UAE roads held for me and my hands on the powerful Maserati steering, one thing I knew—this city epitomises luxury like no other.

I also obviously ate, drank and made merry, and a couple of friends along the way. Just going to show that the best way to experience life (and luxury) is to share it with others.
