It’s that time of the year again! Summer is almost (feels like it already is) upon us. Most of us hate the summers because of all the sweat and the scorching heat that makes you feel like you’re melting. The humidity in Mumbai is actually what makes you die a little inside. The only advantage to the seasons is the countless pool-parties you get to go for! While we can’t escape the summer, we can surely try to beat the heat and to help you do that, here are 7 tips.

1. Drink More Water

Keeping yourself hydrated is important throughout the year. However, it’s even more important in the summers. Hot weather tends to make you sweat a lot and your body needs to be hydrated to keep your inners cool. So, refill that glass of water! If you’re someone who tends to forget, set reminders on your phone, laptop or where ever! A small PSA, leave a small little water bowl outside your window, house and building too! All the little birdies, cats, dogs, etc. need water too.

2. Dress Easy

We all want to look our best whenever we step out. You can look just as gorgeous in some cotton clothes as well. You don’t need to be decked up in your leather jacket and thigh-high boots. Also, dress easy when you sleep. It will help your body relax and you’ll also get better sleep. Another small PSA, use antiperspirant, perfume, etc. whatever you want. We don’t think we need to explain why.

3. Eat Light Meals

No, this doesn’t mean you need to starve or go on an epic summer diet. Avoid stuffing in too much at one go. Instead, break up your meals into smaller quantities and spread them out through the day. If you’re too full, you’re going to feel uncomfortable and sick. The heat and humidity will only add to your queasiness. Additionally, try adding some fruits to the mix. They really help keep your body cool!

4. Know Your Body’s Cooling Points

If you’re stuck in the heat and can’t get to a cooler place, know your body’s best cooling points, e.g., your wrist and neck. By applying ice cubes wrapped in a towel (or any other cold object) to these pulse points, you’ll cool down more quickly and effectively. Additionally, washing your feet when you get home will help your body temperature normalize, especially after you’ve exercised.

5. Basic Essentials You Need To Carry

A few basic essentials for the summer are sunscreen, wet wipes, antiperspirant and facewash. Most of us carry a small backpack or something of that sort, so it shouldn’t be that hard to pack these little things. We don’t expect you to carry gigantic bottles of each though. Make your life easy and get a few miniatures.
