With summer season comes the epic summer vacation! Most of us have plans or are making plans to escape the horrible summer. While some people are heading to the mountains for a little chill time, others are busy planning their beach getaway on some island. In all the excitement, it’s easy to overlook important things and goof up some stuff. This could lead to you not enjoying your holiday as much as you expected. So how do you ensure you’ve planned out the perfect holiday? Here are a few things to avoid!

1. Not Looking For Package Deals

While solo trips aren’t that much of a headache, if you and your friends or family are planning a trip, you should always look at tour packages. The common notion is that packages are usually boring and aren’t worth it. The truth is, many tour operators and companies now customise their packages to fit the need of the traveller. So if you’re a more outdoorsy group, they can tailor make a trip that suits your needs.

2. Flexibility

Never plan a holiday with a fixed and rigid checklist. You always need to leave a little wiggle room! Whether it’s the dates, your schedule or your itinerary, you need to make sure it’s flexible enough to withstand any last minute additions. Always remember that there may be things you really want to do when you get there, that you didn’t plan out so leaving a little space for that is essential.

3. Packing

One of the most common mistakes people make is that they pack too much or too less. While packing, think of the place you’re going to. Additionally, always look at the forecast of the place as sometimes, the weather can be a lot different from what you expected. Since most summer destinations are rather hot, you’d always want to pack light and practical. Also, a little space for some souvenirs and last minute shopping never hurts.

4. Travelling To And Within The Destination

Always have a fixed plan in regards to how you’re getting to wherever it is. Last minute plans are always expensive so it helps to get a jump start. Compare flights and other details to make sure you have the best deal. Just because you don’t get to fly your favourite airline, doesn’t mean you’re going to have a bad flight. What’s more important is the travel situation when you get there! Always do some research about the connectivity, prices of transport, etc. of the place you’re going to go to.

5. Currency And Currency Deals

The foreign exchange market is a turbulent one. There are shifts always constantly and while they are not as massive, they can play a vital role. Always look at multiple institutions and be on the lookout for deals. Sometimes, you might actually get more than you expect.

6. Budgeting

Let’s be honest, we all travel with a certain budget but mostly, we end up going over it. Always plan out a realistic budget. You know yourself best so keep that in mind while planning out a budget. What you may end up doing, your quirks, etc. are all important factors while making a budget. Additionally, keep a little extra aside for a rainy day is always a good idea.

7. Research

Whether it’s hotels or flight tickets, do your research thoroughly. The place, the political situation, safety, connectivity, etc. are all important things to research while planning your trip. Also, just because you think you found a good deal on one website doesn’t mean you don’t look around for more. Talking to multiple travel agents, browsing multiple websites, etc. all ensure that you have the best deal possible. Don’t be in a hurry.
