As beauty editors, it’s our job to give you guidance, knowledge and throw in a few pro tips here-and-there when it comes to the latest trends or launches. We get to test out majority of the products that come through the beauty grapevine and give back, by giving you our honest opinions. Olaplex recently launched their Bond Maintenance range; No.4 and No.5, so here’s the low-down on what went into the process.

What is Olaplex?

A treatment that not only strengthens your hair, but it also restructured the bonds from within. Made up of patented active ingredients that work at a deep level to repair broken bonds in the hair, which are usually caused by heating tools, chemicals dyes and so on. Olaplex restores damaged hair to ensure the ultimate breakage insurance.

The process

Step 1

On freshly washed hair Olaplex No.1 is added. This liquid is a bond builder which is the first step to rebuild the broken and damaged bonds. This solution is kept in the hair for about 5 minutes to really absorb.

Psst, it can even be mixed in your bleach while getting your hair coloured.

Step 2

Keeping No.1 as the base level, No.2 is added on over. This bond perfector is great for rebuilding and restoring the remaining broken bonds. This way you get double the intensity which means, stronger, shiny and healthy hair.

Step 3

Once added to the hair, the mixture is then combed with a wet brush. The reason a wet brush is used is to minimise breakage and maximise the saturation, so the product can really work through the hair cells. Once combed, the builder and perfector solutions are left in the hair for about 10 minutes.

Step 4

  • After 10 minutes a thorougher wash is next, using Olaplex’s new No.4 shampoo. The shampoo includes ingredient like acetic acid and is sulphate-free which really restore internal strength and moisture levels to the hair.
  • Then comes the conditioner, No.5 that really seals the deal. It gets rid of any damage and frizz, bringing forward extra shine and manageability.

Step 5

With all that goodness, you don’t even need a serum… You just blow-dry!

So now, you can not only take your treatment home, but you can extend it as well using their new shampoo and conditioner. Thanks, Olaplex!
