Given how preoccupied or lazy we are, organising the house usually takes a backfoot. This leads to our house looking like it was hit by a tornado or something of that sort. Despite what people think, organising your home and keeping it that way isn’t that tough. Here are 6 easy things to remember and follow, that will make your house look spick and span.

1. Rods and S-Hooks

Whether it’s your bedroom or the kitchen, a rod and few S-hooks can work magic! For this, even a curtain rod would suffice. When you hang things up, not only are they easy to find the space also becomes multifunctional and organised. This usually helps keep your countertop clean. It also looks really cool if you’ve got some artsy-looking utensils.

2. Peg Rail

A peg rail near the entrance of the house is like the best thing you could ever gift yourself. From your keys to your jackets, you can hang it all here. It becomes easier to remember where you’ve kept things and saves you the trouble of scrambling to find something. All essentials can be hung here. That being said, a peg rail doesn’t have to be limited to just the entrance of the house. It can work all over the house! It can also act as a great way to hang multiple decorations.

3. Divide And Conquer

Whether you have a drawer or a closet, divide your things in order of importance and use. Have a separate section for each of the things in your closet or drawer. This helps you save a lot of time finding things. This is also something you should do for your storage. It might seem like quite the task but once you do it, you’ll automatically get into the habit of it. The process of compartmentalisation is the best way to declutter your house and is all the more important if you have a small space.

4. Repurposing Old Things

Just because it’s old doesn’t mean it needs to be thrown out.  Sometimes, things like wooden crates, a file holder, etc. can all come in handy when it comes to sorting out and organising stuff. It might seem counter-productive but it’s actually a great way to decorate and save money. That being said, it’s also essential to know when to let go of something. A major part of organising your house is removing junk you don’t need so don’t be a hoarder.

5. Create A Storage Area

A storage space is essential for any house. In smaller places, it often becomes hard to figure out where to store excess things. For that, adding shelves and other creative storage places are essential. If you can’t figure anything, utilise the ceiling space. You can add a rack or a large shelf which can act as a storage unit. You can camouflage it by decorating or adding something quirky around it.

6. One In, One Out

This is a simple rule that you need to follow in order to achieve a clean and organised house. Storage space is limited! So, it’s important to keep cleaning out things. For every new thing you buy, you need to let go of one old thing. This might seem tough at first but as you get a hang of it, it becomes a habit. Spend a day figuring out what needs to go and get rid of it.
