You heard it right! Fairytales do come true, especially when Nawazuddin Siddiqui attends Cannes. This will be his 9th year of walking the prestigious red carpet at Cannes Film Festival but only this time, he has dumped his old suit of 9 years for a stunning Manish Malhotra creation. He has always worn his old suit, made by a local tailor and this year, Manish has designed not one, but 3 different suits—One for the red carpet, one for the screening of Manto and one for the party.
1. How did you zero in on the suit for Nawaz?
I have always respected him as an actor, I think he is fabulous at what he does, also the way he approaches fashion and style is quite unique. When this was offered to me I immediately agreed to do it, since it would be really interesting to style an off-beat personality like Nawazuddin.
2. Did he give you a brief?
Nawaz wanted very classic-chic western looks for Cannes this time, he wanted to keep it simple, minimalist and very classy.
3. How many outfits have you prepared for him?
I have designed three looks for him, a black tuxedo, a checks suit and another cool blazer look, which he plans to wear on the red carpet and one of the screening and interviews. But everything that I am making has a Manish Malhotra world touch to it, keeping Nawaz’s like for classic look in mind.
4. Do you want to show Nawaz in a different light that he has always been perceived as?
Well, over the years Nazwaz has also changed a lot, there is a certain maturity in his work and body language. What I have designed, I think, will look really chic on him and then he should just be himself, there is no other better way of carrying a look with confidence and charm.
We completely agree with you, Manish! And here’s wishing Nawaz a stylish red carpet moment!
