Psychology is really interesting, isn’t it? Sometimes, people do things they don’t realise. Much like the Freudian Slip theory, the body too, says a lot about someone, without them even telling you directly. If someone is excited to see you, they don’t have to express that in words. It can be sensed in their gestures. Similarly, if someone is not fond of you, their body language will signal the fact that they don’t like you. Today, we’ve got you a list of common gestures people make that can tell you more about what they feel. Here they are.
When someone talks to you with their palms open and are prominently visible, it means they’re speaking the truth and are trustworthy. While someone hiding their palms could mean that they’re hiding information from you.
People making eye contact while talking to you also means they’re speaking the truth. Not a creepy stare, of course. But the one with confidence to speak the truth.
When someone crosses their arms and legs while sitting shows a closed body gesture. It means they don’t want to interact with anyone.
Someone who fidgets and picks out the lint from their clothes could mean they’re lying and try to avoid eye contact so they don’t get caught.
When someone rests their chin on their palm, it means they’re disinterested or bored of the conversation but obviously cannot tell you that to your face. This person will have disinterest in their expressions too.
When a person places their hands on their hips, it shows confidence and indicates that this person is ready to take on a task.
When there are a bunch of people talking while standing and one of them points their foot towards another person, it means they’re interested in what that person has to say and agrees with them.
These mannerisms suggest anxiety and eagerness for something to happen. It’s also a sign of restlessness.
When someone puts all their fingertips together it shows authority. This gesture is most likely made by bosses or someone who is in control.
This gesture is made by someone when they’re in deep thought and are trying to conclude something or make an important decision.
These gestures will help you read between the lines and recognise what people think subconsciously. Next time someone strokes their chin while talking to you, you may be able to decode what they’re thinking!
