Bollywood movie clashes are not new for the audience. In the past few years, we have witnessed several movies locking horns with each other. While most of the times the clash benefits both, a lot of times, one of them ends up eating into the business of the other. This year, Akshay Kumar’s Padman was going to clash with Sidharth Malhotra’s Aiyaary. But the clash was avoided after the former released a week prior to the release of the other. Now, the makers of Kangana Ranaut’s Manikarnika are planning to do the same.

The period drama which was initially slated to release in April was later pushed to August as the post-production of the film is still in process. While the release date of this one was being finalized, a source revealed to Midday that the makers now will only announce their release date after the makers of Rajinikanth starrer 2.0 decide their date of release.

Kamal Jain, the producer of Manikarnika said,

We have mounted the movie on a scale that’s hard to imagine. We don’t want to clash or release too close to a film that can eat into our business. While we want to release the film between August and September, we haven’t zeroed in on a date yet.

When questioned whether they have reached out to the makers of 2.0, Kamal added,

We haven’t, as of now. But the buzz in the market is that they too are planning a release around September. So, we will wait and come to a consensus. Movies like Rani Laxmibai biopic are a onetime creation; we can’t afford to go wrong with it. So, rushing with dates is not a good idea.

We are waiting to witness these flicks on the 70mm.
