Monsoon is finally here! The beautiful rain, cloudy sky and that amazingly cool breeze is what the city was looking forward to after that harsh summer. However, there are a lot of things you need to avoid this season, especially a few food items as your immunity may be quite fragile in the monsoon. Here are a few things you should avoid eating this season.

1. Sodas

Carbonated drinks should be avoided in the rains. These drinks reduce the minerals in the body that are required for a healthy digestive system. Instead, keep yourself hydrated by drinking a lot of water.

2. Seafood

The monsoon season is the breeding time for fish and prawns. Hence, you should avoid eating them and stick to chicken instead.

3. Leafy Vegetables

While green leafy vegetables are very healthy, they should be avoided in the monsoon season as they are most susceptible to contaminated air. If you really want to consume them, make sure to wash them well before you cook.

4. Street Food

We’re all foodies and love street food. Having said that, we should avoid street food as these vendors cut their vegetables in advance that eventually attract contaminated damp air that carries a lot of germs.

5. Salads And Juices From Outside

These street vendors or even restaurants cut the fruits and vegetables early in the morning and keep them out on the streets all day. These vegetables and fruits by the end of the day are covered in germs and polluted air. Also, you are unaware of how well these vegetables are washed. And since they are raw vegetables being consumed without being cooked, all those germs are active and can be very harmful to the body.

6. Fried Food

Because of the humidity in the monsoon, the digestive system slows down. Hence, we should consume only light and healthy food this season. Having said that, it’s tempting to eat pakoras and samosas so sometimes, it’s okay to slip. After all, we’re only humans!

You’re all set with the food you need to stay away from this monsoon season. Remember to stay hydrated and eat light during this time.
