When we were kids, most of us couldn’t wait to grow up. The idea of being an adult was something that was constantly in our heads and was really amusing as well. All that freedom and all the possibilities! Gosh, little did we know right? Now that we’re adults, most of us really regret wishing that we grew up. If we could turn back time and go back to being kids, we’d do it in a heartbeat. Sadly, that’s not how life works. Well, until someone invents the time machine that is! Till then, here are 10 things that prove why being an adult really sucks!

1. Taking Care Of The House

Gone are the days when you could open the fridge and magically find everything you could want. Now, if you’re too lazy too clean the house or go grocery shopping, you’re probably going to end up being hungry and in a house that looks like a wreck.

2. Bills

It’s the one word that makes us scream and run in the opposite direction. Yet somehow, no matter how much we try to run away from it, the bills we need to pay, find a way of catching up to us. Not paying the bill just results in a bigger bill. So basically, you’re screwed either way.

3. Taking Care Of Yourself

As you grow up, you realise that your body can’t get away with half the shit you used to do when you were a kid. You can’t binge eat junk food daily, without suffering the consequences. If you fall sick, it usually means having to take a day off work, which in turn means you’re going to get a pay cut.

4. Working

The thought of working was so appealing when we were kids. Now, however, waking up every day is a struggle! While you wish you didn’t have to go to work, you also know that missing work would result in you losing out on pay.

5. Living Away From Home

Homesickness is a real thing. Anyone who moves to a different city in order for work or other things knows exactly how painful it is. When we were kids, we all thought, growing up and being independent would be fun! Sadly, it’s not!

6. Problems

From almost constant anxiety to financial troubles, growing up is literally like a never-ending episode of 2 Broke Girls. Except you’re the broke one! It’s like the problems pile up faster than the solutions.

7. Sleep

When you were a kid, going to bed or being sent to bed felt like a punishment. Now, it seems like you’d give up an organ just so that you can sleep in a little longer.

8. Taxes

Yes, it’s true. Taxes really do exist and contrary to popular belief, you actually do have to pay them. When you were a child, all you had to worry about was homework. Bet no one told you life was going to be this way, huh?

9. Hangovers

Even if you age like fine wine, if you end up drinking too much of it, you’re going to wake up with a nasty hangover. The older you get, the worse it becomes! #ReadBetweenTheLines

10. You Never Have Time

Probably the biggest problem of being an adult is the fact that you literally never have enough time for anything. Weekends go by in the blink of an eye and holidays end before they even start. It literally feels like even 24 hours aren’t enough.
