Sonam K Ahuja might be currently holidaying in London with her hubby Anand S Ahuja and sister Rhea Kapoor, but not for long. The actress has signed three films Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga, The Zoya Factor and Battle for Bittora and will get super busy after she returns. With so many films in her bag, you’d think the actress may want to take it a little easy. But in a recent interview with Hindustan Times, Sonam revealed she had other plans. The Veere Di Wedding actress opened up about how she would love to try her hand at directing and she was even looking at a few scripts.
I have found a couple of scripts. They are mostly ready, but it will still take time to work on and finalise them. I think I am going to do something (with regard to directing a film) in a year or two.
She further added,
One half of 2018 is already over. That’s why I feel it should happen in another one-and-a-half to two years. I intend to continue acting and direct as well- not in the same film, but at the same time. So let’s see how things go.
She said the directors who she’s worked with have always encouraged her to take up direction.
Be it Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Aanand L. Rai, R. Balki or Ram Madhvani– any director that I work with has told me, ‘Please direct (a film).
But she also mentioned that it may not happen any time soon as she has way too much on her plate right now.
But it’s surely not happening right now, as I am too tired from working so much. Touchwood, it’s great that I have work, but I need to take some time off to direct. It could be two or three years.
Sonam has previously discussed her interest in directing on one of the episodes of Koffee With Karan too.
On the acting front, Sonam said she’s on the lookout for yet another script as she has some dates free at the end of this year. She also revealed that she will only be doing two films a year as she thinks more than that would be too much to handle.
