Are mid-week blues bringing you down and making you wish Friday as here already? Worry not, we’ve got just the thing to put you in a good, no, a ‘dance my a$$ off’ kind of mood. The makers of Dhadak have just launched the Hindi remake of Zingaat and it is flippin’ amazing! My desi heart has done a mini dance… who am I kidding… a proper imitation of the hook step as I sat her watching it. Why don’t you watch the song before I tell you how much I enjoyed it?

Here you go!

The lead duo was as excited as us and even shared a video yesterday.

I love the original track… LOVE it right from the energy, the lyrics and of course the dance. The original has made a place in our hearts but we’re vibin’ with the just-launched Hindi version too. And how amazing do Ishaan and Janhvi look dancing to the high on energy track?! <3

The reprised song is choreographed by Farah Khan and is composed by Ajay-Atul who also composed the songs of the Marathi hit.

Talking about the original song, Ajay Gogavale shares:

We knew that Zingaat would become popular in Maharashtra because of its tempo, rhythm and catchy words. Also, the lyrics don’t have any double meaning. However, we never thought that it would become so popular all over India, as well as across the world. We never expected it to be played at clubs in New York or on cruise ships in Singapore! The response was overwhelming.

Amitabh Bhattacharya has written the lyrics for this version. The lyricist reveals that rewriting the song in Hindi was challenging. He said:

The Marathi song was released in the recent past and is still fresh in the minds of people. It has also achieved cult status. There was no point replacing the word Zingaat, so I retained the word and rewrote the rest of the song in Hindi. I made sure that the fun element was intact. I hope people give this version as much love as the Marathi one.

Ajay reveals that there are some differences between the two versions:

The beginning chorus in the Marathi song was in English, while in the Hindi version, the chorus is similar to what we hear in Rajasthani songs.

Dhadak has been one of the most talked about movies in the last few months. The movie that marks the debut of Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter in Bollywood is the Hindi remake of the Marathi film, Sairat is directed by Shashank Khaitan. The film is slated to release on 20th July.

Okay bye, gotta go dance now.
