Ask any person what their main hair concern is and the majority will say hair fall. Whilst it’s normal to shed upto 100 strands a day, losing any more than that can be a real problem. The worst part? Some of our daily activities actually exacerbate this issue! Here are 5 things to avoid to help remedy this situation.

1. Tight Ponytails Or Hairbands

Notice how you always find a few strands wrapped around your hair ties when you pull it out of a tight ponytail? Clearly, this style isn’t doing your mane any favours! Snug ponytails or hairbands tug at the roots and lead to receding hairlines. Opt for braids instead.

2. Towel Drying

Drying your hair with a rough towel is one of the worst things you can do for your tresses. The abrasive action damages your cuticles and causes hair loss in the long run. Instead, gently blot your wet hair with an old T-shirt or microfibre towel.

3. Change In Diet

A sudden change in eating habits or yo-yo dieting can put the body through stress and contribute to hair fall. To keep your hair healthy, consume foods rich in protein.

4. Aggressive Styling

Whether it’s using a flat iron or backcombing, keep the styling to a minimum. The excessive heat weakens strands, whilst teasing causes knots and breakage. Instead, detangle your hair with a wide-tooth comb and allow it to air-dry as often as you can.

5. Carrying A Bag With Your Hair Loose

As surprising as this sounds, this reason is totally valid. Hair often gets caught in the shoulder strap of your bag and becomes more susceptible to breakage. Avoid this by pulling back your hair into a loose braid or ponytail.

We hope these tips will help you out! In the meantime, if you would like to make your hair healthier in a natural way, here are 7 foods that you can try out.
