“Aamir Khan Joked That I Make A Good-Looking Buddhi”- Rani Mukerji

Rani Mukherji is one of the most talented actresses Bollywood has ever had. And through the years, she has shown us how versatile she can be with whatever role she plays. With her come back movie Hichki, it was no different. Not only was it a box-office success but it was also well received by the critics. Rani had played the role of a school teacher who suffers from Tourette Syndrome.

Talking about how she felt about the success of such a small budget film to DNA, she said,

I don’t categorise films on the basis of their budget. At the end of the day, it is a validation of my work being accepted by viewers. So, it’s not really about getting success on a higher or lower scale. The audience’s appreciation is of utmost importance. When a film does well, it makes you happy. Likewise, when it flops, irrespective of its budget, you feel equally sad.

Rani had taken a four-year break after her last film Mardaani in 2014 to have her baby daughter Adira Chopra and take care of her. So, Rani says there were a lot of questions she had in mind about her latest film since it was her come back, but as it turned out, she needn’t have worried.

From Javed Akhtar to Aamir Khan everyone only had good things to say about her come back performance, but Aamir had the funniest comment.

I remember Karan’s (Johar) words. He told me, ‘You have performed like a veteran actor.’ Javed (Akhtar) uncle called me after the screening and said he loved my performance in Hichki more than Black. Aamir (Khan) joked that I make for a good-looking buddhi because of the last scene where I’m an old woman. This is the kind of attention an actor craves for.

LOL. Aamir with his casual pulling of legs and all that.

The actress revealed that this movie has a very important place in her long-standing filmography.

Hichki was my comeback film which I did right after giving birth to my baby Adira. So there were a lot of questions I had about whether I would be able to deliver a hit, whether the audiences would like to see me on screen four years after Mardaani. Hichki has dispelled all those questions.

That’s swell, isn’t it?

We’re so glad you’re back Rani, we can’t wait to see you in more movies!
