10 Hollywood Couples Who Are #FriendsFirst Goals

Atmaj Vyas

Have you wondered what makes a marriage truly special? Is it the chemistry? Or is it something a little more easily overlooked? Well, many agree that the main ingredient needed to make a marriage special is actually “friendship” between partners. While it’s something so simple, it’s also something that is easily forgotten. The ability to be able to shed it all and be your true self, without the fear of being judged, well, now that is indeed rare to find. To prove this very point, Platinum Love Bands, PGI’s flagship brand, came up with a brilliant campaign for Friendship Day called #FriendsFirst. In a first of its kind campaign for friendship day, it talks about the friendship between couples. What was once considered an initiator of a relationship, is now, often taken for granted. Sometimes we need to be reminded of why friendship is so incredibly special, just like the video shows. Not convinced? Well, here are 10 of the biggest Hollywood couples that prove why being #FriendsFirst, makes all the difference.

1. Ashton Kutcher & Mila Kunis

Ashton and Mila are like the definition of a goofy couple. They met on That ’70s Show and actually started off not liking each other that much. Eventually, they became close friends and even though they each lead different lives, they found their way back to each other and eventually tied the knot in 2015. They have often said that they consider themselves to be best friends as opposed to a married couple.

2. Will Smith & Jada Pinkett- Smith

Will and Jada have been married for 20 years now and they’re still going strong. Both of them have such strong and amazing personalities that in normal situations would always clash with each other. When asked about their secret to finding the balance, they’ve always said that it’s this amazing friendship and understanding they have with each other. They consider each other as best friends and soulmates and you can clearly see that.

3. Ryan Reynolds & Blake Lively

Probably one of the cutest couples out there, both Ryan and Blake started out as just friends. It was this very friendship of theirs that started to get them attracted to one another. They realised the value of each other and the more time they spent as friends, they found they had a lot more in common than they thought. They have a certain comfort level and aren’t afraid to make fun out of each other, especially on social media.

4. John Legend & Chrissy Teigen

Both John and Chrissy are very open about the fact that they’re more like friends than a married couple. That being said, they’re equal parts #RelationshipGoals as well. From trolling each other online to cracking jokes at each others expense, they prove why a great marriage can also mean a great friendship.

5. Gwen Stefani & Blake Shelton

Gwen and Blake met on the sets of the TV show, The Voice. They immediately hit it off with each other and became great friends during the filming of the show. All the flirting and time spent together eventually resulted in them falling madly in love and eventually tying the knot in a secret wedding. You can notice the special bond they share just by looking at them. Just like best friends, they sometimes don’t even need words to communicate.

6. Jason Momoa & Lisa Bonet

Jason and Lisa have often discussed how their marriage doesn’t really feel like one because of how chill they are with each other. They’ve got all the chemistry you could ask for from a couple but it’s their mutual respect for each others sense of individuality that sets them apart. They’re like two crazy friends who ended up getting married.

7. Joe Jonas & Sophie Turner

Joe and Sophie are the newest couple to this list. They decided to get engaged after dating for almost a year. That being said, they’re still a pretty good example of #FriendsFirst. They are a little more private when it comes to talking about their life, however, on many occasions, Sophie has stated that the beauty to her relationship with Joe is that he is like one of her closest friends.

8. David Beckham & Victoria Beckham

After 19 years of marriage, this couple is still considered by many as the most influential couple ever. They both lean on each other and have each other’s backs and encourage one other. They are like a pillar of strength in each other’s lives and that is something that is rather rare to see. They have a deep understanding of each other’s personalities and always support one another. You can see the pride in their eyes when they talk about their significant other.

9. Melissa McCarthy & Ben Falcone

From writing together to being in a movie together, Melissa and Ben are two of the most down to earth people you’ll ever meet. They both compliment and balance out each other so well, that they make marriage look like a cakewalk. They’ve been married for 13 years and in all this time, they’ve also talked about the special bond of friendship and love they have for one another.

10. Zoe Saldana & Marco Perego

While this couple is pretty secretive when it comes to dishing out the information, their chemistry, relationship and most importantly, friendship is something to be noted. Perego even went so far as to ditch his own surname and take up Zoe’s. When talking about Marco, Zoe explained how she first became comfortable with him as a friend before becoming comfortable with him as a lover. Isn’t that like #FriendsFirst goals right there?
