Priyanka Chopra is one of the critically acclaimed actresses in India and unless you’ve been living under a rock, you wouldn’t know that she has made her entry in Hollywood too. The actress is picky when it comes to her roles and always picks the ones that challenge and bring out her talent in a new light with every new character she portrays. In her TV debut, Quantico, Priyanka played the lead and pulled off the role of an FBI agent like a boss. She went on to play a badass villain in Baywatch too. I mean, you have to agree, be it Jhilmil in Barfi or Kashibai in Bajirao Mastani, Priyanka has impressed us all. It is clear that the actress has a knack for picking the right roles.
Priyanka was recently invited to an event in Delhi where she spoke about making her place in Hollywood amongst other things. According to a report in ANI, she also spoke about Asian actors being cast for the roles of sidekicks in International films and rarely bag the lead roles.
Here’s what the actress said:
I am playing characters which have nothing to do with my ethnicity which I feel will open the door for Indian talent or South Asian talent to become mainstream which will open the door for people to see us as mainstream entertainment in global movies, why do we only have to play the sidekick.
She also revealed that she wasn’t willing to take up a side role at this point.
I’m going to play the leading lady and I’m not going to compromise on that, simple.
Way to go, PeeCee! Settling is not an option for the actress. One the work front, Priyanka just started shooting for her next Hindi film, The Sky Is Pink, and I can’t wait for this one!
