Sidharth Malhotra and Parineeti Chopra are coming back together for the second time after Hasee Toh Phasee. The title of the film which was initially called Shotgun Shaadi is now locked and has a more desi feel to it. The movie will now be called, Jabariya Jodi. Apparently, the name for this Ekta Kapoor production was suggested by none other than the leading man, Sidharth himself.
As per reports in DNA, a source revealed:
He came across this word during the readings and told the team about it. They liked it instantly.
The source further added:
The movie is based on pakadwa vivaah, the makers felt that this was an apt name. In Bhojpuri, jabariya means zabardasti, so the title refers to a couple who is forced to get married. The two actors have also shot for the posters before leaving for Lucknow, so they should be out soon.
The story is based on the concept of groom kidnapping and is essentially a love story. The film has finally gone on floors and will be shot in Lucknow.
The movie is being produced by Balaji Motion Pictures. When Sidharth was asked about Ekta Kapoor funding the project he said:
Balaji will always be special because, till date, my biggest film (Ek Villain, 2014) is with Ekta. That’s why the thought of calling her up about this script earlier this year was obvious. She’s good at presenting and marketing a film. We have had great energies which have worked for us in Ek Villain and we are going to amplify it further with this movie.
I am excited to see Sidharth and Parineeti come together once again because tbh I loved their chemistry in Hasee Toh Phasee.
