The RK Studio is one of the most iconic things in the history of Indian cinema. It is over 7 decades old and the Kapoor family has finally decided to sell it owing to the damages that have occurred to it. Last September, an incident led to a major fire breaking out at the studio on the sets of the dance show called, Super Dancer. Earlier, Rishi Kapoor has spoken about it being a “level-headed” decision and how making repairs to the studio and renovating it might not recover the investments made.

Last night, Kareena Kapoor Khan walked the ramp for Lakme Fashion Week’s grand finale also was asked about the studio and the actress shared memories from RK Studio with IANS.

Here’s what she said:

I don’t know how far what is actually happening. In fact, I have been quite under the weather and I haven’t even met my father in the last four or five days… But of course, we have all grown up walking around in those corridors.

Talking about the sale, she added:

I think it’s probably something that the family has decided, so it’s up to my father, his brothers and up to them… If that’s what they have decided, so be it,” added the actress on the sidelines of the Lakme Fashion Week, where she was the showstopper for the finale show.

It is a truly iconic studio and it’s sad that it is being sold and probably be made into something else entirely. 🙁
