It was last week that the Supreme Court announced its judgement on the archaic Section 377 of the law. People all over the country rejoiced as homosexuality was finally decriminalized and while it may have been just a beginning, it was a step in the right direction. Many Bollywood celebrities came forward and expressed their support for the judgement too.

Karan Johar was one of the celebrities who came forward and here’s what he tweeted:

The producer-director also spoke about the way India deals with homosexuality in his Off-Centre interview.

Karan said,

It is very disturbing as firstly there is no information on sexual individuality. I think the most important thing is when there are information and awareness, it leads to understanding it and then it leads to getting you an emotion towards it. When you don’t have an understanding and awareness of what it is, how deeply rooted and emotional it is, well that’s how it is.

I agree with Karan on this one. There’s so much that people don’t know or understand about anyone else’s or their own sexuality at times. It is this lack of knowledge that often leads to judgements and lack of acceptance in the society or to one’s self.
