We love when good work is appreciated. Alright, who doesn’t? We love when our hard work is paid off, don’t we? Like when we get a raise or a promotion? Similarly, when actors, writers, sound technicians, directors and producers get recognised for their brilliant work, they always wanna make more! Which works well for us, because we love consuming that brilliant work. Today, we witnessed the amazing Emmy Awards, 2018! And apart from the winners, here’s everything you need to know about it!

The Hosts

Colin Jost and Michael Che

The Movements Supported

While the red carpet is a place where everyone struts their glamorous sides and wear the fanciest and elegant gowns, a lot of celebrities take this platform to communicate issues and support causes. This year at the 2018 Emmys, Jenifer Lewis from Black-ish wore a Nike sweatshirt to support Colin Kaepernick, who is featured in Nike’s current campaign who started kneeling during the national anthem before a game. He did this to protest against brutality toward African-Americans. Another celebrity, Sarah Sophie Flicker was spotted with Stop Kavanaugh and the phone number to the U.S. Senate, written on her arm. This was after the Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh was accused of sexually assaulting Christine B. Ford, a female classmate in high school.

The Awww Moments

The Unprecedented Proposal

The cutest moment probably in the history of the Emmys went down today when director Glenn Weiss proposed to his girlfriend Jan after he won an Emmy for Outstanding Directing for a Variety Special for The Oscars. It was just the most beautiful and unexpected surprise ever.

Henry Winkler Wins His First Emmy After 4 Decades

Henry Winkler won the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for his role as Gene Cousineau in Barry. It was his 6th nomination ever, and the first ever Emmy winning moment after 42 years since his first nomination! Wowza!

The Happy Days Reunion

A cooler moment than Winkler winning the award was watching him reunite with his Happy Days co-star Ron Howard, who played the role of Richie Cunningham on the show.

Betty White‘s Charm

Betty White received a standing ovation at the Emmys tonight. Even at the age of 96, Betty is still working and entertaining us. Her speech, however, totally proved how witty and charming she really is. She said “Little did I dream then that I would be here. It’s incredible that I’m still in this business and you are still putting up with me.”

Hannah Gadsby‘s Moment At The Emmys

As soon as the Netflix Nanette comedian Hannah Gadsby got on the stage she started by saying “This is… not normal”. She continued “A nobody from nowhere gets this sweet gig, free suit, new boots, just because I don’t like men!” She’s such a hoot! She almost immediately said “Hashtag not all men. But a lot of them.”

So, if you’ve missed it, we hope we made you feel like you were there, or watching it live on TV with us! We certainly had a blast watching it and we’re pretty satisfied with all the winners tonight! Which TV show is your favourite? Tell us in the comments.
