Small budget movies doing well at the box office is a great win for filmmakers and Indian cinema in general. Stree is one such film that has been pathbreaking in its genre as well as bringing in money at the box office. The film recently entered the 100 crore club and we can only imagine how excited the cast and crew must be about it. But in even better news, there will be a sequel to the film, in fact, it’s going to be a three-part franchise.

Talking about their plans for the sequel writer duo Krishna DK and Raj Nidimoru said,

We had kept most of our crazy ideas wrapped up so far. Now, it’s time to unleash them.

With Stree’s resounding success the duo is much more confident to flesh out these ideas. So, we can surely expect some crazy stuff in the remaining two installments.

Raj also talked about how with Stree they busted the myth that women don’t really enjoy horror films.

I was told that women don’t watch horror, but the film has been more popular with the ladies. The gender reversal satire worked for us. Now, it will be tough to top the first part.

Will we see more of the underlying women empowerment theme that we saw in the first part?

Here’s what he had to say.

It will be easy to take it ahead with laughs and scares, but the effect will be diluted. The premise has to be evolved.

They also revealed that the second part may not necessarily begin from where the first part left off!
