There are hardly any movies that release without at least one reprised or remix version of an old Bollywood song. Be it Chalte Chalte or Dilbar Dilbar, this is truly an era of rehashing the classic numbers with some new techno beats so that it sounds better on speakers that allow us to groove to these beats in pubs and clubs. Latest in the list of old songs being rehashed is the title track of Urmila Matondkar‘s hit film Bhoot.

According to Mid-Day, Bhoot Hoon Main will be remade for the upcoming horror movie Lupt. It’s been almost 15 years since Urmila and Ajay Devgn starrer Bhoot created a ripple among the audience. It is still one of the best-made horror films in Bollywood. The haunting title track Bhoot Hoon Main had a chilling effect on the audience.

While the original track was picturized on its singer Sunidhi Chauhan, the reimagined version will star actor-model Natasa Stankovic. What’s more the new version will be choreographed by Shabina Khan, who helmed the original song as well.

Talking about it she said,

Bhoot Hoon Main was my first song as a choreographer and luckily, it became a hit. It is a bigger challenge to cross your own milestone and I hope viewers will give us the same love for the recreated song as well.

Having worked under Ram Gopal Varma previously, the director of Lupt Prabhuraj felt this song from his mentor’s film was the perfect addition to his upcoming horror movie.

Since it’s essentially a horror film, we were thinking of creating a promotional song. It was then that someone suggested the title track from Bhoot since it fits the theme perfectly.

I don’t know about fitting themes, but I personally would love to hear some new Hindi songs than songs that are rehashed, even if it for promotional purposes.

What do you think?

I’m not the only one who’s miffed by remixes, here’s what Lata Mangeshkar and other singers had to say. Click here
