As a human being each new day I wake up with apprehension and an indescribable feeling in the pit of my stomach thinking about which known personality will be accused of a grave and unacceptable sexual assault or misconduct. Don’t get me wrong, these predators need to be called out whether man or woman. And I’m proud of those brave women who’ve come out and told their horror stories, it must have taken a power of a different kind to have recounted those incidents.
Yesterday another big name in the industry came up and it was shocking, to say the least. You must have loved movies like Ram Lakhan, Khalnayak, Taal and Aitraaz, the esteemed director of these movies, Subhash Ghai was called out by an anonymous woman. And the story she had to tell was disgusting and terrifying. She revealed that while she was working with him, he had taken a special interest towards her and said that he would mentor her. She alleged that he would call her to his ‘thinking pad’ and once had even forcibly kissed her and next day brushed off the incident by calling it a lovers tiff. The worst part was when she recounted the incident when Ghai had decided to have a drink after a late night music session and offered her drink which was spiked. Later she suggests that she remembers asking to be taken home, but he took to a hotel where he raped her before she lost consciousness.
Today Subhash Ghai replied to the accusations to PTI and denied all everything.
He said,
It is sad that it is becoming a fashion to malign anyone known, bringing some stories from past without any truth or blown up false allegations if all. I deny strictly and firmly all false allegations like these.
The director also said that he has always been respectful towards women all his life and asked the woman to prove it in court if she thinks her claims are true.
If she claims this way, she should go to the court of law and prove it. Justice will be done or I will go for defamation certainly.
Other big names have also come out like Sajid Khan and Zain Durrani and the stories just like any other are simply atrocious. We hope true predators wherever they are given the right punishment for their wrongdoings.
