A lot of people think that a narcissist is a person who is obsessed with themselves. And while that might be a small part of the many traits they possess, it’s a much broader personality than you probably think. According to the Google Dictionary,

Psychology: Extreme selfishness, with a grandiose view of one’s own talents and a craving for admiration, as characterizing a personality type. Psychoanalysis: Self-centredness arising from failure to distinguish the self from external objects, either in very young babies or as a feature of mental disorder.
Having a narcissist around could be emotionally draining and if you’re dating one, it could be even more exhausting. It’s important to recognise the signs of a narcissist early, so we’ve listed down a few of them that might help you.
1. They’re Superficial
They do things superficially and not because they want to. They only behave a certain way because they have to.
2. They Think They’re Entitled
They think they’re a boon to everyone around them, and they think they’re entitled to special treatment from everyone.
3. They’re Really Appearance Driven
They want to look good all the time, but they also want their partner to look good. They’ll taunt you if you haven’t put an effort in dressing up.
4. They Throw Tantrums
They have a childlike personality and when they don’t get what they want, they make a big noise about it.
5. They Don’t Accept Criticism Well
They don’t understand the concept of constructive criticism. While they might not tell you anything at first, they definitely will make it obvious that they don’t like to be criticised.
6. They’re Manipulative
When you fight with them, you almost want to record your conversations because these guys have a habit of denying what they’ve said. They make it always look like it’s your fault.
7. They Don’t Listen To You Often
They don’t listen to understand but they listen only to reply. They might pretend to hear you out, but they’re actually not.
8. They’re Not Empathetic
They don’t know how to empathise. That’s one of the biggest characteristics of a narcissist.
