The People’s Choice Awards is the only major awards show that is entirely based on public votes. And to win an award here is every artist’s dream come true. The 44th People’s Choice Awards covered movies, music, digital and TV. A total of 43 categories were honoured, acknowledging the best of each. There was love, fashion, laughter, drama and all you could imagine at this award show. Apart from the well-deserving winners, here are some special mentions and moments that you probably missed out on!
Where And When
The People’s Choice Awards, now known as E! People’s Choice Awards, kicked off on 11th October, Monday morning 07:30 AM IST. It was held at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California on Sunday night at 9:00 PM ET.
With the California Fires and Thousand Oaks Shooting creating a havoc and disaster everywhere, the stars took positive advantage of the platform to raise awareness and encourage people to support the relief fund by donating whatever they can. Danai Gurira, on winning the final award of the night for Avengers: Infinity War as the movie of 2018 said,
Thank you for what you do. To all of us, whatever we can do, please put our minds and hearts to it of the L.A.S.D foundation, big or small. We just want to dedicate this to them and know that we are with you in every way we can be.
On winning the reality show of 2018 for Keeping Up With The Kardashians, Kim talked about both the incidents and added,
We cannot face devastation alone. We must continue to reach out and help each other
Nicki Minaj’s Wink
Winning the female artist for her album Queen, Nicki thanked her management and fans for the love and victory. But what caught our attention was her rather special message to Michael B. Jordan
Shout out to Michael B. Jordan because he’s going to be taking this [dress] off of me tonight
Girl Love And Girl Power
Victoria Beckham won the People’s Fashion Icon award and Amber Valetta presented the award. In fact, she did not shy away from telling Victoria on stage that she was wearing one of Victoria’s dresses at the show. She went on to talk about Beckham’s style, ambitions and how the former Spice Girl is also one of the nicest women she’s ever met.
Victoria also gave an empowering speech taking us down the memory lane of the start of the girl power movement and said,
Many years ago I started with the girl power, and now that message is still as strong as ever but now it’s through the privilege of being able to empower women through my designs. I’ve always been surrounded with strong supportive women, and that’s as true now as it was (then). For all the women who have been doubted or doubted themselves, this award tonight is for all of us.
Nicki Minaj too shared heartwarming words of appreciation thanking her fans and all the queens who are pushing themselves every day in spite of the hardships. She also added that she is dedicating her award to Kim Kardashian for looking so good in her dress. Girl love? Hell yeah!
Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani gave us a #couplegoals moment when Blake invited Gwen up on stage while accepting his award. Shelton also said “I love her” while Gwen stepped up on the stage. Cute, no?
The Vanderpump Rules Fun
The cast of Vanderpump Rules definitely won the award for having the most fun at the show. Cheering for all the presenters and winners, the cast was up on their feet and full of energy throughout the event. A little special love for John Legend was clearly shown during his performance by this cool gang!
We certainly had a blast watching the show today and hope to have helped you catch up with all that you might have missed. Who likes the feeling of FOMO creeping up on them, anyway? The show couldn’t have been better and the winners bloody well deserved it! Which of the moments were your personal favourites? Tell us in the comments below!
