Everyone wants to have a seamless and beautiful wedding. The one that is perfect and goes the way you want it. But, there is so much planning involved in a wedding. And if you’re the kind of person who likes things to be organised, you must make sure you start planning the wedding at least 9-10 months in advance. Why you ask? Let me give you a little background of why I’m writing this blog in the first place.

So, I got engaged in November 2017 and my wedding is in December 2018. Which gave me over a year to plan. But, I’m a pure #BrideChilla, and hence I procrastinated all the planning till like, today! And out of experience, I can tell you that it is not the smartest thing to do. It’s a struggle if you ask me. So, don’t wait till the last minute like I did, and get things out of the way as and when you can. Here are a few reasons why it’s important to start planning the big day ahead of time.

1. You Keep A Margin For Contingencies

It’s a wedding, and things are bound to go haywire. It’s only normal, since there are so many things to take care of. So, if you plan in advance, you have the leeway of reserving backups for contingencies.

2. You Save Time

Like I mentioned before, if you plan things in advance, you get time to focus on other things. For example, once your own outfits are finalised, you can pay attention to your family’s clothes and accessories and tick that off your list.

3. You Don’t Need To Worry About Last-Minute Decisions

If you don’t plan in advance, you have decisions that’ll pile up and eventually stress you out. Most of the time, when something is left for the last minute, it’s bound to get hectic.

4. You Get The Best Because You Booked First

Planning in advance will give you dibs on the best stuff. Whether it’s decor, outfits, jewellery or booking good venues, you’ll get the best first. As they say, the early bird catches the worm!

5. You Save Money

If you start early, you can try and get all the seasonal and festive deals on everything. It gives you enough time to choose and make an informed decision.

6. You Get Time To Prioritise

If you start early, you will have the time to jot down the most important things to focus on, and work accordingly and get those things out of the way first.

7. You Have Time To Get Creative In The Details

Once you’ve finished planning the crucial stuff, you can then plan the details that you can pay extra attention to. For example, the photo booth at the sangeet, or cute giveaways for the guests are things you have time to go hunting for.

8. You Get Time For Research

You can search for more outfit and decor inspo if you plan in advance because you have the time to do so.

So, I think I’ve made my point. If you’re planning to tie the knot in the coming year, please, oh please plan a hell lot in advance! Take it from me, you don’t want to miss out on good deals and the best stuff because you slacked.

*This blog is dedicated to my colleague and friend, Priyanka Parmar who forced me to start planning everything in the first place. If it wasn’t for her, I wouldn’t have started planning even now (no, I’m not proud of my behaviour, even if it sounds like I am).
