It has almost been 10 days since Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh tied the knot. Their Lake Como wedding included a bevy of events—the mehendi, sangeet, Konkani and Sindhi wedding. When the pictures surfaced, the girls at the MMHQ couldn’t handle just how stunning the couple looked. And as more and more pictures came up, we just couldn’t stop the drool—especially after looking at Deepika! Not only was her bridal look dreamy and traditional, but her beauty look stole the show.
One of our favourites was from her Konkani wedding. Her makeup artist Sandhya Shekar strayed away from a very dewy and rosy look and opted for a statement smokey eye with a nude lip instead.
Here are a couple of products you need to achieve this look.
Start with a moisturiser and then apply your trusted foundation. Make sure that it’s liquid so that it applies evenly as compared to a cream or mineral. With a fluffy buffing brush, apply it over the face and towards the neck for full coverage.
Cover your under-eyes, spots and pimples with a medium to full coverage concealer. Opt for a lightweight cream concealer as it can blend and cover more areas of the face. Then set it all in with a translucent powder.
Deepika’s blush blends in seamlessly with her base. So opt for a colour that’s a little warmer and in powder form. When applying, focus mainly on the apples of the cheeks and glide the excess towards the cheekbone for a lifted look.
The main attraction of Deepika’s bridal makeup look, is in the eyes. We love that the look is fairly muted but still makes a statement with the kohl and smoked out liner. First off for the lids, apply a warm nude colour (like the one in the middle of the palette below) all over. Opt for a matte finish with a strong pigment so that the colour really pops even though it’s neutral. Next up, for the outer corners and crease, apply a darker, deep brown shade (like the first one from the right) with a blending brush.
For a smouldering, smokey look, line the top and bottom lash line with a kohl pencil. Use a liner brush to diffuse the colour to add some drama to the eyes. Make sure your liner is creamy and can glide on easily. You can reapply the eyeliner and blend again, depending on the intensity you’re going for.
For more definition to the eyes, apply some mascara. While looking for the perfect mascara, opt for one whose comb curls the lashes upward, giving it a wide-eyed and open look.
Finish off the look with a taupe-y nude lip colour. And keeping in theme with the rest of the look, choose a matte texture.
