It’s so exciting to move into a new home. Decorating it is the most fun activity one can experience, don’t you agree? I’ve recently moved into a brand new house that my husband and I designed and decorated ourselves. And that made the house doubly special. Having said that, it wasn’t as easy as it sounds. The day we moved in, we realised that the absence of the smallest of things made us struggle through the day. I totes don’t want anyone else to go through the trouble of not having essentials around. And if you’re soon moving to a new space, here are a few things I’ve listed down from my personal experience, just for you!

1. Basic appliances

A brand new house needs a few essential appliances for sure. Some of them are a fridge, air conditioners, a washing machine, a steam iron, a toaster, a microwave, a water purifier and a television.

2. Basic staples in the fridge

Another crucial point is basic staples like milk, butter, oil, spices, eggs, bread and cheese. So, if you ever go hungry and need a quick fix, you can whip up scrambled eggs.

3. Crockery

Get a set of crockery, cutlery and glasses at home. You can always buy fancy glasses later as and when you need them.

4. Basic clothes

Stock up on basic tees, types of denim, lingerie, a pair of track pants and PJs in your wardrobe.

5. A few pairs of shoes

Store a pair of sneakers, flip-flops, formal shoes and casual shoes so you have a pair for every occasion.

6. Basic pans and other utensils

Buy a basic nonstick pan, some stainless steel vessels, knives and spatulas for the kitchen.

7. Dustbins & toilet paper

One of the most important items to purchase are dustbins and toilet paper. These are absolute essentials. Also get a packet of garbage bags, napkins and soap.

8. Bath products

Get essentials like soap, bath gels, shampoos and conditioner for your bathroom.

9. Mops & Brooms

To clean up promptly every now and then, get a couple of mops and brooms for all rooms and bathrooms.

10. Stationery

Store a stapler, pens, markers, scissors, tape etc. in a drawer.
So, add these to your list, and you’re good to go at least for a bit till you figure out the details of your space and how you’d like things. And as a bonus, we recommend you get well-connected wifi too!
