India’s very own Chandni aka the Late Sridevi, was one of the most loved and celebrated actresses of Bollywood. The actress has made a significant contribution to Indian cinema before her sad demise early last year. It was a loss that the entire film fraternity and country mourned. Ever since then, there have been talks about a movie being made based on the actress’ life. Now, somebody actually has or so the internet thinks. It may not be a biopic at all, but there are some undeniable similarities.
It was yesterday that the trailer of Priya Varrier‘s Bollywood debut called Sridevi Bungalow was released. Yes, it’s the same actress who became Internet famous after her winking video went viral. The netizens had gone crazy over her and even deemed her the National Crush but this promo of hers has been receiving quite a lot of flak for its eerie similarities to Sridevi’s life. It’s not only the audience but also Boney Kapoor who is seemingly upset with the trailer.
According to reports on Cinestaan, the director of the film, Prasanth Mambully revealed that he has already received a legal notice from Boney Kapoor. Mambully told the portal that the story does have some incidents inspired by Sridevi’s life but he maintained that anybody could have the name Sridevi and it’s just a character in his thriller. He also revealed that they were prepared to face the legal notice. While we don’t know the fate of the film yet, the trailer certainly hasn’t impressed the audience with its story or the visuals.
