As if murders weren’t already terrifying enough, there are several cases that remain unsolved and result in justice never being served. Just the thought of an alleged murderer on the loose is enough to spike curiosity as well as fear among people. Here are some of the most puzzling murder cases that remain unsolved, even today.
Elizabeth Short aka the Black Dahlia was brutally murdered in Los Angeles in 1947. Her horribly mutilated corpse was found in the park. Her body had been completely cut in half at the waist and her mouth was slashed to her ears. The police investigated over 150 suspects, but it lead to no arrests. Due to the graphic nature of the murder, the case gained national attention and was cited to be one of the biggest murder mysteries in America.
In the’80s/’90s, Britain experienced a series of murders. Most of these murders were attributed to an unknown serial killer who was named Jack The Ripper. The unidentified serial killer would often target female prostitutes and was known to slash the throats of his victims, empty them of their organs and mutilate their faces and genitalia. Super gory, right?
JonBenét Ramsey was a famous child beauty queen, who was found murdered in the basement of her home, a few hours after she was reported to be missing. The Ramseys were not an immediate suspect of the crime due to DNA analysis. The murder gained tons of attention in the media and it seemed like everyone was suspecting JonBenét’s family to be the prime suspect. However, a late discovery in the case proved that the DNA from her clothes were traced to an unidentified male, leaving the family in the clear.
Tupac Shakur was a very well-known hip-hop artist who was fatally shot in a drive-by shooting. His murder was a huge shock to the media as well as his fans. The Notorious B.I.G was accused of Tupac’s murder, as the two had been in a feud for a very long time. However, he had a strong alibi that proved his innocence. About 6 months later, The Notorious B.I.G was also fatally shot in another drive-by shooting, leaving both the murders unsolved.
