Cricket is not only a sport, it is more like a religion in India. We all know how emotional people get whenever India’s first ever win at the 1983 World Cup is mentioned. So, when cricket fans got to know that a film titled ’83 was being made around it, they couldn’t be more excited. The sports drama is going to be directed by Kabir Khan and will star Ranveer Singh as Kapil Dev, who was the captain of the team back then.
Another good news is that the makers are all set to release the film in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. ’83 will mark the first-ever trilingual release for both, Ranveer and Kabir. The team felt that the heroic 1983 World Cup win is a story to be presented across boundaries. Which is why they shot for Tamil and Telugu versions of the film simultaneously. The film will be released PAN India on 10th April 2020, which is going to be the Good Friday weekend.
Besides Ranveer, Nawazuddin Siddiqui has also been cast and he will be seen playing the team’s manager, P R Man Singh. The casting of the actors who will play the other members of Team India is still in process.
