As you probably know, Kabir Khan’s ’83 is inspired by Team India’s iconic first World Cup win. Ranveer Singh will be seen playing Kapil Dev and the makers have now locked another cast member for the movie. The popular actor-singer from Punjab, Ammy Virk will be playing the role of Balvinder Singh Sandhu. To refresh your memory, he’s the fast bowler who delivered the most memorable ball in the final match. His delivery castled West Indian cricketer, Gordon Greenidge with a devastating in-swinger.
What’s even more interesting is that Balvinder has also been coaching Ranveer. The actor recently shared a picture with his coach from a practice session too.

Have a look at it below:

The film’s shooting will extend over four months i.e from May to August. One of the producers of the film, Madhu Mantena, is delighted to have the Punjabi star Ammy Virk on board.

Talking about the film Mantena said:

We are in the process of casting and will rope in actors from film industries across India in the true spirit of the film.

There has been immense excitement among the audience to witness the historic event being recreated on the silver screen. Earlier, the makers hosted an event to announce the film along with the entire former team that lifted the world cup in 1983. The film will be shot at real locations and will be going on floors early next year.
Presented by Reliance Entertainment and directed by Kabir Khan, ’83 will be releasing on 10th April 2020.
