On the 25th birth anniversary of her late son, director Shonali Bose posted a picture celebrating over champagne with Priyanka Chopra. Both of them are currently in Los Angeles and were presumably meeting to discuss the next upcoming schedule of The Sky Is Pink. Shonali shared some heartfelt insights on her relationship with her son Ishaan Bose who passed away in 2010. She recalls the day when she woke up to producer Siddharth Roy Kapur‘s text on the exact same day, last year, saying that Priyanka has read her film’s script. This was the moment that started the ‘magical’ journey of the film for the director.

Shonali shared the reason behind this photo and said, “Once she (Priyanka) turned to me before a take and asked if she could call Ishan (the character in the movie) – Ishlu – my name for my son. I was so moved. And so it was lovely to celebrate with her in the middle of the birthday today. She insisted on opening champagne and would not allow me to have green tea! And we toasted him up in the sky on this lovely sunny day.”
Clearly, both the ladies share a very special bond. The director also shared that Priyanka took inspiration from Shonali’s life experiences and drew on them for her emotional scenes during the shoot.
