This Designer Label Brought Our Favourite Memes To The Runway Like Never Before!

Prashansa Daniell

As a fashion junkie who spends more than three hours a day on Instagram, you’d be surprised to find that I follow more meme pages than designers and fashion labels combined. But when I witnessed Viktor & Rolf Paris Haute Couture show, I couldn’t contain my happiness cause they seamlessly blended two of my favorite things–Memes and Fashion. For their SS’19 showcase in Paris, Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren let out a frenzy of OTT gowns that were abundant with tulle, unusual silhouettes and millennial-approved statements that were a graphic pleasure to the eye.
A report on WWD gave us a little peek into the minds of the designers as they explained the concept behind the showcase:

“All these statements that are so obvious or easy — there’s a lot of banality on Instagram and social media in general — are counterbalanced with this over-the-top, shimmery, romantic feeling,”

Merging the usual memes you double-tap on the ‘gram every day and ramp-worthy gown, Viktor & Rolf have given us all something that the interwebs are gonna be talking about for days!

I love that there are no restrictions to fashion—whether we’re talking street style or the runway! Inspiration comes from anywhere and everywhere to make a statement that truly leaves a lasting impression on us all. I enjoyed Viktor & Rolf‘s show a little too much, and loved the triangular gown that had “I’m not shy I just don’t like you” written all over it—which one of these was your fave?
