10 Weird Creatures We Bet You've Never Heard Of

Nature in all its forms is both bewildering and fascinating. We haven’t even discovered everything our world has to offer yet. From the tiniest of the creatures to the largest organisms, here are some of the strangest animals you’ve probably never heard of!

1. Dumbo Octopus

This cute lil‘ creature reminds me of the pink octopus from Finding Nemo! This octopus is named after Dumbo because it uses its ears to swim. It’s 10/10 the cutest thing we’ve seen today, don’t you think?

This aquatic creature is notorious for its red pout, which it uses to lure preys. Maybe it’s a red-lipped batfish, maybe it’s Maybelline!

3. The Morelia Boeleni Python

This holographic snake is equal parts beautiful and equal parts of NOPE. Even if you’re deathly afraid of snakes, you have to agree that this danger noodle looks prettier than most people!

There are Egyptian images depicting the shoebill, while the In Arabic the bird is referred to as abu markub, which means one with a shoe, a reference to the bird's distinctive bill. The population of shoebills is estimated at between 5,000 and 8,000 individuals, the majority of which live in swamps in Sudan, Uganda, eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Zambia.There is also a viable population in the Malagarasi wetlands in Tanzania. @birdlife_insta has classified it as Vulnerable with the main threats being habitat destruction, disturbance and hunting. The Shoebill Stork is a massive bird that seriously looks like a real-life dinosaur! It is known for its distinctive beak and is also called as a whale head. Looks like we know what our nightmares are gonna be about tonight, LOL.

5. Okapi

The Okapi is a fascinating animal that looks like it’s half-zebra and half-giraffe. It is closely related to giraffes and is a member of the Giraffidae family.

The Glaucus Atlanticus is a sea slug that almost looks too pretty to be real. They are washed up on the shore many times so chances of you running into one are pretty high!

7. The Tufted Deer

This deer with this vampire-like fangs has us super confused. Is it cute or scary? We can’t decide!

8. Giant Pink Slug

This fabulous slug is larger than other slugs and is only found at the volcanic area of Mount Kaputar. It’s bright pink colour is definitely unique, don’t you think?

9. Goblin Shark

The Goblin Shark looks like the stuff nightmares are made of! This rare species call the deep sea home and are often called a ‘living fossil’.

10. Glass Frogs

As their name suggests, Glass Frogs are known for their translucent, glass-like skin that lets you see its organs! Their skin helps them escape the sights of their predators and hence serves as a defence mechanism.
