Director Rajkumar Hirani was recently accused of sexual harassment by an assistant director, who worked with him from March to September 2018. He reportedly denied the allegations and said the complainant was making up false stories to malign his reputation.
Several people from the industry have spoken in Hirani’s favour and now his Sanju actress, Sonam K Ahuja has also come out to defend him.
She said:
In the #MeToo movement, I always believe a woman. But in this case, we need to reserve our judgment. Two things here – one the film is as important as the movement and second, I have known Hirani for many years and I respect him as a filmmaker and a man. I will talk about it at length when the movie is released. But what if it’s (allegations) not true, the movement will get derailed.
Sonam further said that in Tanushree Dutta’s case, there was proper research and many people came forward with the truth, which isn’t the case here. It must be noted that Mr. Hirani was earlier associated with Sonam’s upcoming film, Ek Ladki Ko Dekha To Aisa Laga until these allegations were made against him.
