The nepotism wave enveloped Bollywood when Kangana Ranaut accused Karan Johar of being its flag bearer. A debate ensued and while some remained silent about the matter, others chose a side with their valid (sometimes invalid too) arguments.

It’s true that nepotism makes it easier for star kids to set afoot in the film industry, but one can’t deny that talent supersedes everything else. The current crop of actors include a lot of names who don’t have a filmy background – Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, Anushka Sharma, Rajkummar Rao, Ayushmann Khurrana, Vicky Kaushal and many others.

Vicky was recently on an episode of Famously Filmfare hosted by Jitesh Pillai. He asked him to react to a troll who had the following views on him:

He doesn’t have hero face… a common punjabi ladka yes, but he has filmy background… bas utna hi kaafi hai aaj bollywood me.

Now that was harsh, more so because it isn’t true. Vicky’s father, Sham Kaushal was a stunt director in Bollywood – which doesn’t count as being a star kid and nor does it guarantee an easy entry in the industry.

The Uri actor reacted to the troll saying:

Sir, you are most welcome in Bollywood and try and survive a week and we will have a cup of coffee together and I will ask you the same question.

But being the chiller dude he is, Vicky also took it with a pinch of salt and said:

Okay, so apart from the last line, “utna hi kaafi hai Bollywood mein”, I think there’s nothing wrong in what he said. I don’t have a filmy face, hero face.

Nicely done, Vicky! Internet trolls shouldn’t ever get the better out of us.
