Every foodie likes to try new things every once in a while and can we blame them? There are so many cuisines to check out in the city itself. And if you want to try many cuisines at once, the perfect place for you to head to is a buffet! A lot of people feel overwhelmed with the amount of food they see and feel like they can’t do justice to the spread there. For such peeps, we’ve got a few tips and tricks to make the most of the buffet they’re heading to. Here they are!

1. Choose Lunch Over Dinner

A buffet for dinner gets really heavy and you could end up feeling really bloated before going to bed. Instead, go for lunch so you can even burn those calories through the day.

2. Wear Comfy Clothes

Wear your “Thanksgiving Pants” (as Joey Tribbiani calls them) when you’re going for a buffet. Okay, not literally maternity pants, but something stretchy and airy so you don’t feel too choked in your clothes.

3. Don’t Starve Before Going

Most people make the mistake of starving all day before heading for a buffet. That’s really not what you should be doing. Instead, eat smaller and lighter meals through the day to keep your metabolism going.

4. Hydrate

Drinking water through the day before you head for your buffet will give your body all the hydration it needs to digest your meal.

5. Work Up An Appetite

Try to be active throughout the day. Maybe work out or go for a walk to work your appetite. This will help you eat a lot more than usual.

6. Eat Your Favs First

You don’t want to get full eating things you didn’t really like and then let it get to a point where you can’t try what actually looked interesting to you. To avoid this, eat what you want to first, and only if you have room, try other dishes.

7. Size Does Matter

Eat smaller portions to avoid getting full faster. This way you can try more dishes and not feel bloated.

8. Start Light

Avoid eating a lot of carbs at the beginning of your meal. Carbs like rice, pasta and rotis will fill you up quickly. Instead, go for salads, meats and grilled vegetables.

9. Move Around

Every 15 minutes or so, try to go for a quick around the premises. This will build your appetite for the next round. Sitting in one place, however, will make you lethargic and stuffed.

10. Avoid Sodas

Another thing to stay clear of is sodas. These carbonated drinks will make you feel bloated and that will keep you from trying a bunch of things you really wanted to.

11. When Life Gives You Lemons

Make sure that you squeeze a lemon in your drink or on your food during your meal. Lemon is known to improve digestion, reduce bloating and help with heartburn too.

12. Keep Room For Dessert

If you’re not into desserts, you can skip this point completely. But if you’ve got a sweet tooth, don’t forget to factor in some space for desserts while eating your meal.

The next time you feel like heading to a buffet, don’t fret. These things should help you maximise your experience and eat a lot more than you could otherwise.
