Now, this is the really interesting part… This is only the second time in the history of the Academy Awards that there will be NO HOST. Yup, you read that right. This year was supposed to be hosted by the hilarious American comedian, Kevin Hart. But due to a past homophobia-related controversy, he decided to drop hosting completely. This led them to be host-less this year. Fans, however, think there will be a surprise host who will appear at the event. Theoretically, fans are hoping it is Whoopi Goldberg as she’s been a 4-time host before too.

#TBT to Whoopi Goldberg hosting the 68th Academy Awards back in 1996. The actor and comedian made history two years previously when she was the first African American and the first woman to solo host the Oscars in 1994, and to date has hosted the show a total of four times. Rumours are circulating that Goldberg -who has been absent from her daytime show The View this week citing sickness- could be hosting the 91st Academy Awards ceremony on Sunday. This year, for the first time in 30 years, the Oscars will not have a host. Since there is no host this year, the producers of the show are compensating with a massive lineup of celebrity presenters. We can expect stars like Jennifer Lopez, Pharrell Williams, Amy Poehler, Tina Fey and many more.
We can expect some really fun performance by Bette Midler, Queen, Jennifer Hudson and some intense ones by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper too.
The Week predicts Roma to win Best Picture, The New York Times predicts Glenn Close to win Best Actress and FirstPost predicts Rami Malek to win Best Actor.
