The 64th Vimal Filmfare awards took place over the weekend and a lot of our favourite stars walked away with the coveted black lady in hand. Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt won the Best Actor (Male) and Best Actor (Female) in a leading role for Sanju and Raazi respectively. Ranveer Singh and Ayushmann Khurrana shared the Critics’ award for Best Actor (male) while Neena Gupta won the same award in the female category.

Deepika Padukone, Alia Bhatt

All the nominees across various categories were deserving enough for their work but unfortunately, there is only one winner when it comes to awards. Deepika Padukone‘s humongous fan following was disappointed that she didn’t win the Filmfare Best Actor (female) award despite delivering a phenomenal performance in Padmaavat.

One of the fan clubs went on a long rant, bashing Filmfare for their alleged prejudice against Deepika. The note also pointed out that like Ayushmann and Ranveer, Alia and Deepika could also have shared the honour. Following this uproar, the actress replied saying that she was sorry to let her fans down and promised to work even harder in the future.

I love Deepika’s response, she is always so affectionate and gracious towards her fans and well-wishers.
