If there’s one star in Bollywood who says it like it is, it’s Kangana Ranaut. She’s a force of nature on-screen and there’s no holding her back, whether it is her dedication to her craft or expressing her opinion. It’s not news that Kangana has been honest about her troubles and tribulations that has got her to where she is today. She has been open about how she was often taken advantage of when she first came into the industry as well.

The actress, who celebrated her 32nd birthday on March 23rd, was just as candid and honest in an interview with Mid-Day and revealed that during the initial years, she was even offered a film by the former CBFC chief, Pahlaj Nihalani. In fact, she revealed that it was a soft porn sort of a movie that was offered to her.

Talking about her experience, she said:

The fact that people met and promised to guide, help, but then I was put under house arrest. And then Pahlaj Nihalani had offered me a film called I Love You Boss. They had a photo-shoot where they gave me a robe to wear and no undergarments.

She further added:

So I just had a satin robe for a show-girl pose, from which I had to stick my leg out, coming out of darkness. They should at least have given some tapes. I was supposed to play a young girl lusting after her middle-aged boss. So it was a soft-porn sort of character. And I had this epiphany that I can’t do this. I felt like this is exactly what my parents were talking about.  I actually went through the photo shoot, but then I disappeared. I changed my number.

To put things in context, Mr Pahlaj Nihalani was the former chairman of Central Board of Film Certification and who was of the opinion that films with cuss words should not be given approval for release. He also had very strong opinions against Sunny Leone starring in Bollywood films. Not to mention, he also thought controversial films like Rajkumar Hirani‘s PK shouldn’t be made at all. He was also the person who disallowed the word intercourse in the trailer of Harry Met Sejal.

I know. Go figure.
