This is not the first time Sonam Kapoor Ahuja has chosen her mother’s jewellery to dress up a look, and we have a feeling that it won’t be the last time. Earlier this year, she sported her mom’s mangh tikka with some killer boxer braid, but this time it’s not her mane that has got our attention. This time, it’s the clothes that she chose to team her mom’s jewellery with has got us drooling.
For her first look, her sister and celebrity stylist Rhea Kapoor chose to go for a gorgeous, statement-making gown by Marmar Halim. The sartorially refined gown had cut-out sleeves that gave the illusion of being faux sleeves, sharp shoulder details, a cinched waist and best of all, it had pockets! Rhea continued the contemporary vibe with the sparkling Jimmy Choo but desi-fied the outfit with other accessories. She chose a contrasting emerald and diamond choker with pearls from Amrapali Jewels and a stellar mangh tikka given by their mother, Sunita Kapoor. To show off these jewels, celebrity hairstylist Hiral Bhatia styled Sonam’s mane in a sleek low bun, whereas, celebrity makeup artist, Arti Nayar intensified the eye makeup.
Switching to a lighter hue and towards a more indigenous look for the next one, Rhea selected this breathtaking outfit designed by Anamika Khanna. The saree and coordinated longline jacket with exaggerated lapel definitely made a statement, but not without the jewellery. It was all thanks to Sunita again. The elaborate matha patti, the long ethnic danglers and the bangles all added unexpected theatrics to the outfit. Again keeping the focus on jewellery, Hiral went with a sleek do and Arti continued the pastel shades of the garment on the eyelids and lips.
Two distinct looks but one source of inspiration, i.e. their mother’s heritage jewellery. Isn’t this a really cool way to utilise your mom’s old but gold accessories? We’re definitely taking notes. What about you?
