With the pace of this fast, fast world, you either keep up, or you get left behind. Whether you’re an entrepreneur, influencer, businessman or even a student, you’re constantly needed (and urged) to have your foot on the ball, especially when times get rough and tough. Keeping up with yourself is hard enough, that you have no time to try to “Keep Up With The Kardashians” even!

Generally, this habit of constantly working or being at work, or even thinking of work is a slippery slope to the gates of ill-health. And like many nutritionists, doctors and mothers (hi, mom) will say; “If you don’t have your health, you have nothing.”

Which is why self-care is so important for your mental health and wellness. Taking time out to listen to your body and mind’s needs doesn’t mean you diss work or other commitments. It entails for just a few hours or even a weekend where you take certain measures to care for yourself before your mind and body get crippled with anxiety or depression.

Why ‘me time’ is important:

  • You can improve your health
  • You can expand your creativity
  • You’ll be able to think better
  • You’ll have more energy
  • You’ll feel relaxed and happier
  • You’ll be motivated to take on new challenges

Here’s how you can optimise ‘me time’ to the fullest:

1. Reorganise your closet

2. Go workout

3. Do some retail therapy

4. Choose a hobby

5. Binge watch shows

6. Write down a list of things you are thankful for

7. Curate and listen to a calming playlist

8. Switch off from social media

9. Plan for a future vacation or event
