Sonam Kapoor has always been one to stand up for female rights and gender equality in the film industry and otherwise. She has not shied away from voicing her opinions regarding these issues with every opportunity she gets and has been commended for her stand. This time too, at the 35th Annual session of the FICCI Ladies Organisation (FLO), Sonam shared her thoughts about gender equality in the film industry.
Talking about being treated as an equal in her job, she said:
In cinema world, I was not treated as an equal but treated as a woman. But I realised it soon that women should not compromise.
She then went on to talk about her husband, Anand Ahuja, whom she tied the knot with in May last year. She shared how he is supportive of her career and doubles as her biggest cheerleader.
Talking about him, she shared in a statement:
After marriage, my husband is my cheerleader and and as a support he added my name in his middle name and has become Anand Sonam Ahuja.
Now that is one hell of a supportive and thoughtful husband you’ve got there, Sonam!
The Neerja actress, too, took Anand’s surname after marriage and has stated that it is her own choice and that she didn’t do it out of compulsion or tradition. Their marriage has been all kinds of goals and we are taking this opportunity to show you why.
