Cooking snacks at home can be so much fun, right? You get to use ingredients you don’t really take out of the shelves every day. And if you’re someone who feels this way very strongly, then you’re in for a big surprise. Vidhi Doshi a.k.a @Ramenhairedgirl shared this super easy and quick recipe for potato chips crusted onion rings. So, if you think you’re not good at cooking anything, don’t you worry. Read on to find out how quickly you can make this snack and surprise your fam with some delicious munchies.

What You’ll Need1/2 cup maida (plain flour)1/4 cup corn flour1 tsp Chilli powder1 tsp garlic powder1/2 tsp garlic paste1/2 tsp pepperSalt to taste3 cups potato chips. (I used the magic masala variant but you can use any)3 medium onions, cut into ringsOil for deep fryingChaat masala or Mayonnaise to serve

Here’s How You Can Put It All Together

Prepare all your ingredients.

In a bowl, add the plain flour, cornflour, garlic powder, garlic paste, chilli powder, salt, and pepper.

Add water, little by little, a little over 1/2 cup, and whisk it all together. Taste the batter as you go. It has to be properly seasoned as you don’t want the onion rings to be bland. The batter has to be a little thick, enough to coat the onion rings well.

Put the chips in a ziplock bag and crush them to the size of Panko breadcrumbs. Remove on a plate.

Place a couple of onion rings in the batter.

Remove the onions from the batter and place them in the plate with the chips and coat it. Make sure to use different hands for both.

Deep fry the covered onions in hot oil till golden brown.

Remove on an absorbent paper.

Serve with mayo or sprinkle with chaat masala.
