The buzz about earth’s mightiest heroes, the Avengers is at an all-time high with just a day left for the release. Being a huge Marvel Cinematic Universe fan myself, and with Thanos still demanding my silence, all I can do is speculate on what this final instalment will hold for our favourite warriors. But in the meantime, I thought it would be super fun if we could reimagine the Avengers with Bollywood actors. Before you raise your arms in anger, imagine it. Bollywood actors can make cars and people fly in non-superhero in movies, so what’s a few creatures from outer space and a larger than life villain, no? Agreed that Thanos snapped half the world out of existence the last time around, but right before we see the original set of heroes avenge the earth for what might be the last time, let’s try and reimagine it with Bollywood actors just for gags, shall we?
So, here’s an Avengers cast reboot from our side to give your day an extra kick:
Sanjay Dutt as Thanos
Thanos is one of the most powerful villains in the Marvel Universe. His character arc from being an introverted Titan child to someone being obsessed by death is not a storyline that is new to Bollywood movies or actors. The baritone voice, a doomed sense of responsibility, the ruthlessness and a surprising soft corner for his adopted daughter are all of which I think Sanjay Dutt could pull off easily. Sanju baba has played several roles but his most memorable performances have been grey characters. The man has perfected playing the villain. Remember Kancha Cheena in Agneepath? Not just in terms of appearance, I feel Dutt would be perfect to play Thanos.
Shah Rukh Khan as Tony Stark
Iron Man is by far the most popular MCU characters. A wealthy and narcissistic businessman, genius inventor and of course, he’s good with ladies too. Under his confident social persona is a wounded individual. Despite his flaws, you can’t help but love Tony Stark for his wit. The only person in Bollywood that I can think who’ll pull off a Stark is Shah Rukh Khan. Sure, SRK is known to be the king of romance, but you can’t deny that there’s no one who can portray a badass as he does. SRK’s Don was accepted with open arms for a reason. There’s something super sexy about Don even though he’s a criminal, the same applies to Tony Stark. You know Tony is an ass who would do anything to reach his means but he is after all brilliant. SRK would do complete justice to the character. Don’t you think?
Ranbir Kapoor as Captain America
Captain America – The First Avenger, the patriotic and dutiful leader of the Avengers group. Seemingly young, but old in years and experience. I would love to see Ranbir Kapoor is the role of Steve Rogers because it would be totally different from what he has done all these years. He’s played the player and the boy next door for way longer than we’d have liked. We all know what a great actor he is and embodying Steve wouldn’t be a problem for Ranbir. He’s got the looks and the talent.
Priyanka Chopra as Black widow
The Russian born femme fatale is just as dangerous as she’s gorgeous. A character who’s got a history of bloodshed in her ledger as a result of brainwashing and spy training. She’s absolutely someone who can match up to the boys in the group and if there’s some who can pull a Natasha Romanoff in this part of the world, it would be Priyanka Chopra. We know our Desi girl can kick some butt and look super sexy while doing it too. Now imagine her as the badass Black widow. She would ace it like a boss, stunts and all of it.
Farhan Akhtar as Hulk
Bruce Banner is the renowned and soft-spoken scientist who is part of the Avengers not only his brilliant work in nuclear physics and Gamma radiation but also for his violent alter ego Hulk. He is a man struggling to keep his alter ego in control. While it’s hard to imagine anyone else as Dr.Banner other than Mark Ruffalo, I think Farhan Akhtar would be able to do the job pretty well. He played a youth suffering from multiple personality disorder in his film Karthik Calling Karthik and aced it. If there’s one person who can pull off the helplessness of Bruce Banner along with the anger of Hulk, it’s probably Farhan.
Randeep Hooda as Hawkeye
Hawkeye is the pretty much the only family man of the MCU universe as of now. The master archer who grounds the divided Avenger‘s group. Randeep Hooda would do amazing in the shoes of Clint Barton both as the fierce archer, a husband, a father, a friend and a valuable member of the Avengers.
Hrithik Roshan as Thor
Thor is the Son Of Odin, the god of thunder — with looks that can make you go weak in the knees. He is someone who goes to the fight if the fight doesn’t come to him. Rash, often reckless but supremely powerful too. If there’s anyone who matches up to the looks of a Greek god in Bollywood, it’s got to be Hrithik Roshan. We can’t think of anyone else who’d be able to portray the lightning wielding God. Not to mention, playing a superhero is nothing new for Hrithik, just a few changes to his costume and he’s good to go as Thor.
Abhishek Bachchan as War Machine
James Rhodes aka War Machine shows the true value of a loyal sidekick to Iron Man. A lieutenant at the US Marine Corps, he’s probably the more stable minded and trustworthy person to operating an iron suit other than Tony Stark himself. Abhishek Bachchan could fit the bill for War Machine taking in his great rapport with SRK who we already cast as Tony Stark.
Katrina Kaif as Captain Marvel
Captain Marvel is seemingly new to the MCU. But one of the most powerful superheroes in Marvel who possess superhuman strength, endurance, stamina and control over heat and gravity. It is with the addition of her to the Avenger‘s squad, that they can think of going against Thanos one more time. I would love to Katrina Kaif play Captain Marvel, especially since she’s proven just how good she’s with action in Tiger Zinda Hai. Besides, it’s time she moves on from just being sidelined as a dancer in all her roles. Don’t you think?
Akshay Kumar as Ant-Man
The MCU portrays Ant-Man as a well-meaning thief turned superhero thanks to the super-suit made by scientist Hank Pym. Scott Lang is the perfect funny guy turned superhero that all of us love. If I can think of anyone who would be great to play Scott, it would be Akshay Kumar. Akshay is known for both his comic timing and action. The perfect package, don’t you think?
